All right, I admit it – I haven’t been soooo busy that I just haven’t had time to post an update on the blog. I have been stuck working the boring normal jobs you have to do to pay the bills if you want to be a travel writer, but that’s par for the course.
Really, I’ve just been taking a bit of a break from writing. Because finally, after a couple of edits and a fair bit of toing and froing, I’ve finished my first book, Five Ways to Carry a Goat.
The text is set, the cover’s been finalised, the back-page blurb has been written, and it’s all off to the printers, ready to hit the shelves of all good bookstores on May 3rd.
Am I excited? Kinda. Nervous? Yes. Scared? Absolutely. Let’s just hope the critics (and the people I’m writing about) are kind.
Stay tuned for details of the launch, too – rest assured, you’re all invited. If you can get drunker than me, you’ll win a prize (not a free book of course – man’s gotta make a living).
Before then, though, I’ve got a trip to Japan planned. Anyone been to Osaka?
I’ve been wondering what happened to you. You do know that some of us have to find something to do to pass the time at our real jobs, it’s not like we can work all day. Quit being so lazy and write a blog or something, I need good stuff to read while I’m avoiding work!!! Kinda selfish if you ask me.
Congrats on your book, I look forward to reading it, probably while sitting at my desk.
Hey Ben, can’t wait to read the book.
Any plans for a kindle version?
Hi Shane, not sure as yet, I’ll have to talk to my publishers! – Ben
Been to Osaka? I live there now. Let’s catch up for a beer while your here, and talk travel writing! Seriously, drop me a line.
Mate, that’s awesome, I’m definitely heading to Osaka so I’ll drop you a line. Thanks for getting in touch. – Ben
I may be in Australia in May so make sure I get that book launch invite!
Congrats on finishing the book!! I’ve been looking forward to reading it.
Did you have to launch it just after I leave the country to go backpacking for a year though??
Will it be avilable to purchase online?
Yep, it’ll be online, just finalising the place! – Ben
