So, it’s been a while since I last posted. A loooooong while.
There have been various things going on – a redesign of my site, due to go live in the next few weeks; actual paid work – but the most exciting of those is definitely the impending launch of my first book, 5 Ways to Carry a Goat.
It’s a travel memoir, for those of you new to the game, in which I travel around the world relying purely on the kindness of the readers of my SMH blog, The Backpacker. As you’d expect, things got a little strange.
To mark the release of the book I’ll be having a launch party in Sydney, and the good news is, everyone’s invited. It’ll be a “backpacker” themed night, which means plenty of VB and goon to go around.
Now, in the style of high school party invites, here are the details:
What: Launch of 5 Ways to Carry a Goat
Where: Kinokuniya Bookstore, Galleries Victoria, 500 George Street, Sydney
When: Thursday May 6th, 6pm.
Bring: Nothing. Drinks are on the house.
Should be a great night – hope to see you all there.
Bout bloody time mate!

Gonna still be in Thailand so will not be making it I’m sorry. Sounds like a great night though!
Will Kinokuniya Book stores in bangkok be stocking it?
Hi mate! Not sure if they’ll be stocking it, but don’t worry, I’ll be posting you a free copy as soon as I get my hands on some. Email me your address when you get a chance.
email sent!
Pity you aren’t doing it in melbourne
Congrats on the book launch Ben!! Wish I could make the party, would be a hell of a trip. I’ll be able to find it at the big name bookstores here in the US? Hope so.
Hi Ben! I’ve been reading your SMH blog for a year now and LOVE every entry. I’ll be there at the launch – bringing a load of friends – and I’m looking forward to buying your book. All the best mate! Emma.
Thanks Emma, see you there!
Hey Ben -
Back in Brisbane after a quick trip to Sweden which included Easter with Aussie sister & her extended Swedish tribe in Volvo-land Gothenburg… (who’s a lucky boy, eh, getting in & out before the volcano blow??). I had the joy of being able to read ‘Goat’ whilst there (a reviewer’s copy) & I loved it. Look forward to its local Oz release – I reckon it will be a winner here !
My Benny! I’m so proud! No good bookstore here in Gladstone, thank God for online shopping! I can’t wait to read it!
